Interlibrary
Loan (ILL) Policy
FALL 2003
Eligibility:
Interlibrary Loan services are available for all currently registered students and currently employed faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff of the College of Santa Fe. Professors emeriti are also eligible for Interlibrary Loan.
Interlibrary Loan services are not available for any other library patrons (such as, concurrent enrollment students, passports, community members, alumni).
Requests:
We cannot request materials that are owned by Fogelson Library, therefore it is the responsibility of the patron to check the College of Santa Fe Libraries’ holdings, including journal holdings, before placing an ILL request.
Each patron must submit his or her own request for Interlibrary Loan materials and is personally responsible for picking up and returning all materials requested. Fogelson Library will not accept requests placed through a third party.
Requests may be made by filling out a paper ILL form, sending an email to illoan@csf.edu, or by filling out the ILL form on the Fogelson Library Web page. Printouts from subscription databases, such as FirstSearch and ProQuest are also accepted.
Every attempt will be made to fill requests. However, because of lending library restrictions, not all materials can be borrowed. This is especially true of reference works, rare books, AV materials and new titles. We will not request textbooks for current course offerings or items which will be put on reserve.
Number of requests:
Students are limited to 5 requests per day and no more than 10 active requests* at one time.
Adjunct faculty are limited to 5 requests per day and no more than 10 active requests* at one time.
Faculty and staff are limited to 5 requests per day and no more than 15 active requests* at one time.
No title may be requested more than twice by the same patron.
*Active request -- ILL requests are activated as soon as they are turned in at Fogelson Library or sent to the ILL email address. Articles are active until received; books are active until returned.
Loan periods:
Loan periods are set by the lending library, not by Fogelson Library.
Patrons are responsible for returning items by the due dates.
Renewals are not automatic and must be requested for each item at least three days in advance of the due date.
There is a limit of one renewal request per item.
Overdues:
We take ILL overdues very seriously because they affect borrowing privileges from lending libraries for all CSF users.
First occurrence of overdue materials: $1.00 per day per item.
Second occurrence: $2.00 per day per item.
Third occurrence: $3.00 per day per item and suspension
of Interlibrary Loan privileges for 3 months.
Overdue Interlibrary Loan materials will result in suspension of an individual’s ILL privileges and Fogelson Library borrowing privileges until materials are returned and fines are paid.
Loss of Interlibrary Loan materials will result in suspension of an individual’s ILL privileges and Fogelson Library borrowing privileges until materials are paid for or replaced. Determination of fees or acceptance of replacement copy is at the discretion of the lending library.
Summer:
Interlibrary Loan will not be available during the month of July and may be suspended at other times, depending on availability of staff.
